A letter to a “friend”

Dear Oliver

I can’t believe it almost has been 7 years. It feels like we haven’t talked in forever but i still remember the last time we talked.
You were getting ready for soccer practice but you were late so you asked your mom to drive you. You texted me when you were in the car.

“I have to go but i’ll talk to you as soon as i’m home, ok?”
“Ok, i’ll talk to you soon. Have fun.”

I knew how long soccer practice took so i waited for two hours so i was sure you were home. I texted you saying,
“Hey, how was practice?”.
And you didn’t text me back. I went to bed because i thought you were too tired to talk. I texted you the next day, and you still didn’t texted me back. I thought you ignored me.
But finally i received a text a week later, from you – or from your phone.
What really happened – you never made it to practice.

I didn’t knew what to say and i couldn’t believe it.
You wasn’t ignoring me. You didn’t even knew i tried to get in touch with you.
You were no longer with us.

I cried my eyes out and i barely talked to anyone about it.
We were more than friends, you were my boyfriend.
We talked about everything, we had dreams and we supported each other.
But we don’t talk anymore – I bet we would but we can’t.

I still can’t believe you’re not with us anymore but i know you’re somewhere safe and peaceful.

I know you want me to be with someone who makes me happy, and i am.
I think you would really like him, his name is Nicolai. He knows how much you mean to me and how much i miss you.
He’ll do what ever he can to take care of me and be there for me, so i’m happy.
And i hope you’re as well.

I miss you but i know we’re going to see each other again – So promise me you’ll wait for me. I have some things i have to do before i leave – So i might be old when you see me again, haha.
